Lesson Plan Setup

As mentioned earlier, the focus of the FunLab is laboratory experimentation. Each meeting starts with a 15-minute lesson to give background on following activities. After the background information of the lesson or concept, an activity or experiment (30 minutes) follows. The conclusion is a student-involved discussion (15 minutes) of the concept covered. Also during the conclusion, guiding questions are answered and feedback on the experiment is given.

Each lesson is beneficial because it is designed to make the students able to follow the laboratory procedures for each experiment, teaching them how to follow directions as well as how to think more on their own. Pre-test and post-test are also given to gauge mastery of each concept covered in the lessons. Every lesson meets Atlanta Public School System Standards. The FunLab currently works with elementary, middle and high school students.
